Ange - Reception

From the moment an ex-colleague who had moved to Fox told me that they were looking for a Receptionist I was hooked! My initial reaction to having to attend four interviews was one of surprise. That said I can now see why that was necessary, as the first thing you learn about Fox is that the key to Fox is its people

As soon as you step into the building at Soho Square you realise it is shrouded in history – historic prints and photographs of bygone stars colour the walls - we even had Marilyn Monroe stay here once!

I get to meet all sorts of people. And occasionally film stars pop by. Some of them are so laid back! One iconic American actor particularly springs to mind. He was so down to earth that without realising who he was I asked him to register all his details in the visitors’ book! He obliged with a smile, but I was soon to be greeted by a raised eyebrow and a knowing grin from my friendly security guard Dave, who questioned ‘I guess you didn’t realise who that was??’

Of course we also get the ‘wannabe’ actors visiting, like the time I looked up from the desk to see a six foot Storm Trooper starring at me through the glass, asking ‘Do you know who I am??’!!

Being one of the few film studios which is centrally located, we seem to attract the tourists too, who are often disappointed to learn that we don’t produce films here, nor sell merchandise to members of the public! But they are generally happy just to have their photo taken outside the entrance to historic Twentieth Century House

Of course it’s not all about glamour, but I can honestly say that I’ve never considered myself to have had a ‘bad day’! Every day goes by in a flash – I may as well not wear a watch, as so rarely do I feel the need to look at it

People often ask me why I love my job so much. For me, it’s because I work with the best people – everyone here at Fox really does feel as though they belong to one big family (the 'Fox Family’) and even those who have felt the need to move to pastures new, comment on how Fox continues to hold a special place in their heart. How do I sum up the Fox Family? Everyone here has a visible passion for what they do, a passion for film and television. They are hugely talented, committed and work so hard to make this company a success, not because they have to but because they want to. Do faces come and go? Well naturally there are a few that do, but the majority of the faces stay for many years and some that leave even return to Fox a few years later…it’s easy to see why
